What role you will play in our team
Are you an engineering student pursuing work term employment, who is motivated to join Imperial as a Subsurface Engineer student? If you are passionate about problem solving, delivering results, working collaboratively in a team environment and building positive relationships, then we have a great opportunity for you! This role is located in Cold Lake and is embedded within our Upstream asset team. You will get to use your technical and creative skills and experiences to help manage our 5000+ wells which produce ~ 140,000 barrels per day oil.
What you will do
- Drive engineering programs for 5000+ thermal insitu wellbores, including well integrity, repairs/workovers, reliability and optimization
- Ensure adherence to evolving internal technical standards and practices, manage risk, and maintain regulatory compliance
- Lead engineering studies, technology trials and identify new well opportunities that increase production, reduce expenses and improve profitability
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, operations and well services teams
- Engage with external vendors, service suppliers and regulators
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Canadian accredited (or equivalent) Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree is most suited for the role; other engineering disciplines may be considered
- Desire to live and work in a rural Alberta setting and operational environment
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and safe driving record
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Mechanical aptitude; adaptable; creative and innovative
- Upstream oil and gas engineering experience, with in-situ or heavy oil experience is an asset
- Prefer candidates with related subsurface, wells, drilling & completions, reservoir or production engineering skills
Start date: May, 2025
Work Term: 12 to 16 months
