GEI Consultants is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic GIS student to join our Owen Sound office for a summer work term. This is a fantastic opportunity for a student passionate about
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to gain hands-on experience and contribute to real-world projects in a collaborative environment.
As a GIS Summer Student, you will work closely with our team to support various GIS-related tasks, including data collection, analysis, and map production. This role will provide you with valuable exposure to GIS technologies, specifically ESRI ArcGIS, while contributing to projects that have a meaningful impact.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist in the development and management of GIS data from various sources
- Support field data collection and data integration into GIS systems
- Use ESRI ArcGIS software for data analysis and processing
- Help create and update geospatial databases and maps
- Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy of GIS data
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled in a Geography, GIS, or related program at a recognized post-secondary institution
- Experience working with ESRI ArcGIS software
- Strong editing skills in GIS data
- Ability to perform quality checks on data
- Familiarity with scripting and programming is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Eagerness to learn and gain practical experience in GIS
