First Capital Summer Intern Program gives young professionals access to enriching opportunities to start and accelerate their careers. Our program is uniquely hands-on, allowing Interns to work alongside our leaders on exciting new projects and strategies. In addition to day-to-day projects, Interns will have access to a series of learning and networking events, mentorship sessions, an end of term Capstone Project, and much more. As Summer Law Student, you will support our Legal Team in preparing and negotiating legal documents in connection with leasing transactions. Reporting to the Director, Legal Affairs, you will gain experience in various practice areas such as Commercial Leasing Law.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Analyzing data and conducting legal research.
- Assist with estoppel requests and drafting various legal documents, reports, and correspondence.
- Update restrictive covenant schedules for all properties.
- Provide administrative and ongoing project support.
- Maintain a variety of electronic databases and organize files for off-site storage.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives and take on other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING:
- You are currently completing your first year of an LLB/JD program at an Ontario university.
- Demonstrated interest in commercial real estate/leasing law, and previous experience with legal research.
- You have excellent communication and presentation skills, enabling you to effectively collaborate across all levels both within and outside of First Capital.
- You demonstrate outstanding organizational capabilities and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- As a self-starter, you have a willingness to learn in a dynamic environment and are eager to grow your exposure to new technology and processes, taking any opportunity to acquire new skills.
- You have strong computer skills, including an excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

OUR APPLICATION PROCESS:
Our Summer Internships are four-month, paid, in-person opportunities commencing on May 5, 2025, and concluding on August 22, 2025. The Summer Law Student must be available on a full-time basis for the entire duration of the program. Please note that the application deadline is January 24, 2025, at 5 P.M. EST. No applications will be accepted after this deadline, without exception. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and only selected candidates will be invited for interviews with our team. Successful candidates should expect to hear from us by Call Day on February 4, 2025.
