First Capital Summer Intern Program gives young professionals access to enriching opportunities to start and accelerate their careers. efforts and are committed to doing our part. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint in our neighbourhoods by engaging in sustainable initiatives across our portfolio. This includes implementing best operational practices and setting a target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
As ESG Intern, you will have the exciting opportunity of playing a role in facilitating our progress towards achieving this carbon reduction targets and low carbon transition. Reporting to the Energy & Sustainability Manager, you will support the ESG team with sustainability reporting and creation of potential strategies to further improve FCR’s commitment to ESG.
What You Will Do
- Create a database of incentives, grants and subsidies available to assist with decarbonization efforts of the FCR portfolio.
- Complete a feasibility study of urban farming opportunities across the FCR portfolio.
- Assist the ESG team with sustainability reporting requirements and enhancement/maintenance of our data management software.
- Research alternatives to reduce FCR’s Carbon footprint.
- Support the ESG team in other tasks and projects as required.
What You Bring
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary program with a focus on Sustainability, Electrical/Mechanical/ Energy/Environmental Engineering, or Building
- Environmental Science.
- You have a passion for ESG and a belief in the importance of supporting a corporate strategy to drive a positive change.
- Previous knowledge of sustainability/ESG reporting, and understanding of carbon, energy, and climate change as it relates to commercial real estate.
- You have strong analytical skills with the ability to gather information, synthesize it, and ‘connect the-dots.
- You have excellent communication and presentation skills, enabling you to effectively collaborate across all levels both within and outside of First Capital.
- You demonstrate outstanding and organizational capabilities and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- As a self-starter, you have a willingness to learn in a dynamic environment and are eager to grow your exposure to new technology and processes, taking any opportunity to acquire new skills.
- You have strong computer skills, including an excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Our Application Process
Our Summer Internships/Co-Ops are four-month, paid, in-person opportunities commencing on May 5, 2025, and concluding on August 22, 2025. Interns must be available on a full-time basis for the entire duration of the program.
