What role you will play in our team
The Mechanical Engineering Student works closely with other mechanical engineers in the Reliability group to support day to day operations and long term initiatives of the refinery.
Support can be in any of the equipment engineering areas supported by the reliability group:
Fixed equipment (piping, pressure vessels and heat exchangers); machinery (pumps, compressors and blowers); Fired heaters (boilers and furnaces); Instrumentation; Electrical; and Reliability. Assignments will vary depending on the initiatives and ongoing work in the plant.
You may be required to give a presentation on the assigned project(s) at the end of your work term depending on the department you are working for.
What you will do
You will work alongside Nanticoke Engineering team gaining valuable experiences working in an industrial setting, working with maintenance and operations while performing engineering deliverables.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- Studying to achieve a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- University Mechanical Engineering student available for a work term beginning in May 2025
- Currently enrolled in a University Mechanical Engineering program and returning to full-time studies after the work term
- To be considered for employment, your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application
- Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Previous industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential
- Commitment to safety on and off the job
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required for all roles
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team-based environment
- A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record are requirements for certain positions
