What will your typical day look like?
Working in Compliance and Operational Risk offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment, which presents you with the opportunity to continually grow and learn from people with different backgrounds and working styles. Your role will be impactful in many ways. Professionally, you'll support the development of complex analyses to senior leaders/executives. Socially, you'll tackle challenges with peers, solving significant problems. Personally, you'll share successes and build lifelong professional networks.
As a consultant you will focus on:
- Assist in compliance operations tasks: Support senior team members with risk assessments, monitoring, issue tracking, and reporting by gathering information/data and drafting documentation/reports.
- Support innovative risk management solutions: Research best practices, analyze data, and help develop tools and processes under guidance.
- Facilitate working sessions and develop working documents and deliverables: Participate in meetings, assist with information organization, conduct research, and create and maintain project documentation.
- Support proposal and marketing content development: Research, gather information, and assist in writing and editing proposals, marketing materials, and thought leadership content.
- Assist in maintaining Deloitte’s industry leadership: Prepare materials for presentations and publications, conduct research, and help with event logistics.
- Participate in training and education programs: Engage in training sessions, seek professional development opportunities, and apply learning to projects.
About the team
Deloitte’s Compliance and Operational Risk (C&OR) team is a highly connected market offering with a national presence, looking to continually grow, innovate, and offer quality and innovation to our clients. We help clients in non-financial service industries, safeguard stakeholder interests by proactively managing risk related to external regulations, commitments, and standards to enable long-term success and sustainable growth.
We focus on strategic support for clients with:
- Compliance – management of external regulations, corporate commitments, and internal standards and policies.
- Operational Risk – strengthening first and second lines of defense processes for operational resilience and integrity.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
In this role, the expected qualifications are:
- Working towards completing a post-secondary degree or diploma by September 2024 - September 2025. Bachelor's degree, Masters, or additional certification in engineering, environmental science, occupational health and safety, psychological health and safety, compliance and risk management, policy development or a related field.
- Basic understanding of corporate compliance and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Additional qualifications can include:
- Internship or project experience in Power, Utilities & Renewables, Mining & Metals, Energy & Chemicals, Manufacturing, Technology, or Government and Public Sector.
- Familiarity with industry-adopted compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Eagerness to learn and develop professionally.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A willingness to travel (20% of total time) within Canada, the United States and, on selected occasions, overseas, if required.
Work Eligibility:
- Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada.
- The ability to enter the USA and work on client assignments is an asset.
- The ability to enter the EU and other developed countries is an asset.
Total Rewards
The salary range for this position is $46,500.00 - $70,000.00, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
