About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Position: Engineering Intern
Reports to: Senior Engineer
Location: Island Gold District, Dubreuilville, Ontario
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in underground surveying;
- Assist in updating prints with surveyed information and indication from the production engineers;
- Participate in the month end reports preparation;
- Conduct underground inspections with other ground control department members;
- Take part in seismic monitoring data analysis;
- Assist in secondary support print drafting (cable layouts, shotcrete prints etc.);
- Perform any other tasks in relation to ground control activities;
- Assist in conducting mine ventilation surveys;
- Assist in maintaining accurate ventilation plans for use in planning, operations and emergency situations;
- Other tasks as assigned;
Qualifications:
- Having completed minimally the first 2 years of a Mining Engineering or Mine Technologist program
- Previous experience in an underground operation would be highly regarded.
- Underground Common Core modules would be seen as an asset.
- The individual should demonstrate a high level of energy, self motivation and strong organizational skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
- The incumbent will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Deswik, Autocad and Promine is required.
