Position Overview: The University Intern will support the Plant-Based Foods of Canada team on various projects and tasks designed to enhance member engagement, continue to build our communications, and promote our association’s initiatives. This internship offers a hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, perfect for gaining practical experience in communications, marketing, and member relations.
Key Responsibilities:
Communications:
- Assist in the creation and distribution of newsletters and other communication materials.
- Support the management of social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling, and monitoring engagement using Hootsuite.
- Help maintain the association’s website with current news, events, and resources.
- Support with drafting and editing articles, blog posts, and member spotlights.
Member Services:
- Assist in the planning and coordination of member events, webinars, and meetings.
- Help manage member databases and update contact information.
- Respond to member inquiries via email and phone on an as needed basis, providing excellent customer service.
Project Support:
- Participate in creative development for social media, including content creation and scheduled postings using Canva and Hootsuite.
- Assist in creating a media contact list for use by Plant-Based Foods of Canada in media outreach.
- Review research studies to support the development of content for use on social media, newsletters, and blogs.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving communication strategies and member services.
- Support special projects and initiatives as needed, including marketing campaigns, events, and promotional activities.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, and presentations.
Admin/Operations
- Assist with planning and execution of team meetings and events
- Provide Bookkeeping support as needed.
- Assist with general admin duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools; experience with Canva and Hootsuite is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
