The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
Job Summary
The Summer Intern will be supporting the earned media and social media team in developing and pitching stories to media, developing content, monitoring social media, media logging and analytics.
You Will Make a Difference By
- Assisting in the planning of the monthly media briefings, which are the centrepiece of our proactive media efforts, and by assisting with creating a process for repackaging content into video clips, social media posts, LinkedIn posts, etc.
- Assisting in creating a library of audio-visual clips of the OMA President and others speaking on topics in the news and help us create processes for developing this material for breaking news.
- Adding to and supporting documentation of ongoing issues notes.
Requirements That Are Important to Us
- University degree or certificate program in journalism, communications, social media or public relations.
- Strong writing skills, with an understanding of what news media want, and the ability to write basic news releases, pitch stories and set up media interviews for OMA spokespeople.
- Able to develop written and audio-visual content for social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Candidates must be enrolled currently in an accredited post-secondary program and returning to school for the subsequent fall semester to be eligible for consideration.
