Public Affairs Coordinator
Join the Impact Public Affairs team in Toronto to gain hands-on experience in government relations, strategic communications, and advocacy efforts. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Public Affairs Coordinator to join our talented team of professionals.
Through Impact’s paid Internship Program, the successful candidate will work closely with our experienced team members to assist in the development and implementation of effective communication strategies for our clients.

Position Type: Hourly (40 hours per week)
*Opportunity for position to become full-time, permanent
Location: In-Person (250 University Ave, Toronto, ON)
Responsibilities:
- Support Impact’s consultants with client work in a variety of industries.
- Support the coordination of advocacy events at Queen’s Park and Parliament Hill.
- Build and maintain relationships with government officials, stakeholders, and key decision-makers to advance clients' interests.
- Prepare briefing materials, policy analysis, and advocacy documents for clients to effectively engage with government representatives.
- Coordinate and organize meetings, briefings, and events to facilitate productive interactions between clients and government officials.
- Track and analyze media coverage, policy changes, legislative activities, and regulatory updates and prepare reports with findings.
- Conduct research on political, economic, and social issues and prepare reports with findings.
- Support written and oral communications for clients.
Qualifications/Skills:
- In-depth understanding of Canada’s federal and provincial/territorial systems, political landscape, legislative processes, and government structures.
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex policy issues and translate them into actionable strategies.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude, strategic thinking, and a results-oriented approach.
- Available to work occasionally outside normal working hours.
- Bilingualism an asset.
Experience & Education:
- Currently studying or recently completed a post-secondary degree Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Relevant experience working within the federal government or provincial/territorial legislature, and/or a campaign.
- Communications or Public Relations experience is an asset.
