Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sustainability Intern to support our projects and initiatives. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainability, policy development, and stakeholder communication. The ideal candidate will have a background or knowledge in plastics, packaging, EPR, emissions reduction, data collection and reporting, along with excellent writing and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research & Analysis: Conduct research on sustainability policies, regulations, and industry best practices, including jurisdictional scans.
- Writing & Communication: Develop briefing notes and presentations that translate technical concepts and policy elements for diverse stakeholders.
- Documentation: Track and organize sustainability commitments and regulatory changes impacting the industry.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate findings effectively to team members and external partners.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Sustainability studies, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Preference will be given to students in the final year of their program.
- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Experience or coursework related to plastics, packaging, emission reduction and circular economy.
- Familiarity with policy development and government relations is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and research tools.

Eligibility Requirements: We are hiring under a funding program and the job offer will be conditional upon candidate meeting the following criteria to qualify for the program:
- You are Registered as a domestic student in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant federal, provincial, or territorial legislation and regulations.
- Registered in a program or course with a WIL (co-op) component as part of their study plan.
- Undertaking a placement that is recognized as work-integrated learning in connection with a course, degree, certificate, diploma, or other recognized program offered by the institution. The placement can be required or optional, for credit or not for credit.
- Graduate students (including Masters and PhD’s) are eligible.
- Registered in a full-time or part-time program in any field of study.
